Weekend of Action with Voting Is Our Superpower Rally
COIN’s weekend of action kicks off on Saturday, October 1, with the Voting Is Our Superpower Rally at 11:30am at the Bonneville Power Administration Plaza, which is located in front of Senator Wyden’s and Representative Blumenauer’s offices near Lloyd Center. The address is 911 NE 11th Avenue. Cofounder of the Indivisible Project Leah Greenberg will be there along with Jamie McLeod-Skinner, candidate for US Congress District 5, Andrea Salinas, candidate for US Congress District 6, and other COIN-endorsed candidates as the countdown to Election Day 2022 gets underway. Following the rally, the COINvention officially begins. A catered lunch with Leah takes place at 1:30pm and various workshops and break-out sessions go from 2:30-4:30pm. Register here to attend. A evening social event with no-host bar and appetizers starts at 6:30pm at McMenamins Kennedy School. A registration link will be available soon. On Sunday a non-affiliated canvass in Congressional District 5 will take place from noon to 3:00pm. Be sure to check out the COIN website for further details and registration links.
A4D Endorses Ballot Measure 26-228 Proposed New Portland City Charter
If voters approve the proposed new Portland City Charter in November, the following changes will take effect:
Voters will rank candidates in order of their preference using ranked choice voting
Four new geographic districts with three members elected to each district will expand the city council to 12 members
The city council will focus on setting policy and the mayor will be elected citywide to run the city’s day-to-day operations with the help of a city administrator
