Across the country, ICE and other federal agents are detaining people on the street, at homes, and in workplaces, schools, hospitals, and places of worship. These actions will only increase with the recent passage of a federal budget that drastically increases ICE's funding.

Use the form (found at the Button above ) and with a couple of clicks, you can send a letter directly to your Senators and Representatives urging them to co-sponsor legislation to correct some of the ICE abuses.

Agents conducting these raids are frequently wearing masks, and they are frequently not wearing proper uniforms or badges that identify themselves or their agencies. The vast majority of people detained in this way have no criminal record, and many are here under protected status. Some have even been citizens and permanent legal residents.

We must restore accountability and the rule of law to immigration enforcement. Write your Senators and Member of Congress today and ask them to cosponsor S.2212, Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement (VISIBLE) Act or H.R. 4176, the No Secret Police Act.

This paramilitarization of immigration enforcement is a dangerous escalation designed to create fear and enables lawless and unaccountable abuses of power. Families and legal counsel of detained people often have a difficult time even identifying which agencies were involved in the detention and where those people were sent.

These actions are made more frightening with the Trump Administration's brazen disregard for federal law, including violating due process rights by abducting people without trial to foreign gulags.

Specifically, these bills:

  • Require agents to clearly display insignias and badges indicating the agency they work for; and

  • Prohibit the use of non-medical face masks in immigration enforcement.

These commonsense and narrowly written bills don't stop immigration enforcement. They merely require transparency, professionalism, and accountability in how immigration enforcement is conducted.

Your Senators and Member of Congress need to hear from you. If they are already a cosponsor of S.2212 or H.R.4176, you can customize the letter below to thank them. Otherwise, please write them and ask them to cosponsor these bills.
