February 23 Monthly Meeting Notes + Action Groups The highlight of A4D’s well-attended member meeting on February 23 was Jamie McLeod-Skinner’s presentation on ways to find productive common ground with people who don’t share our political views. COIN (Consolidated Oregon Indivisible Network) is organizing several groups to focus on the following issues: bridging the rural/urban divide, recruiting/supporting candidates, federal issues, and the anti-racist education and activity. A4D Legislative Recommendations Act for Democracy recommends the following bills and urges you to support them: Campaign Finance Reform HB 2678 establishes ranked choice voting for certain state and local offices. HB 2685 permits ranked choice voting for military or overseas electors. HB 2686 requires vote tabulation systems be compatible with ranked choice voting. HB 2921 establishes a small donor matching program. Climate/Energy/Environment HB2495 expands the Toxic Free Kids Act. HB 2842 addresses healthy homes. Gun Safety HB 2510 is the Safe Storage Bill. SB 396 is the Ghost Gun Bill. HB 2593 closes the “Charleston Loophole” by forbidding gun transfers without completion of a background check within three days. SB 554 bans guns in schools, the airport, public buildings, and other venues. Celebrate Grassroots Advocacy
