Gearing Up for the Midterms

Post-Roe + Stop MAGA + Win

with Simon Rosenberg

A coalition of grassroots groups across the country, including Indivisible Oregon and Swing Left, is hosting a virtual event with Simon Rosenberg, founder of the New Democrat Network think tank. Simon’s recent political talk A New, Bluer Election quickly went viral and has inspired many to take action. Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9, from 5:00-6:00pm, Simon will share extensive research proving there is a backlash to the Court’s extremism and how it’s creating a uniquely competitive environment for the midterms. Poll after poll is suggesting that the 2022 midterms may buck the conventional political swings. Instead, it will likely be driven by opposition to MAGA extremism, as the last two elections have been. To attend and learn about specific actions you can take to build bigger Democratic majorities in 2022, register here.

Breaching the Dams Update

On July 12 the Council on Environmental Quality released two reports that address salmon restoration in the Columbia River Basin: a draft report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA Draft Report) and a study commissioned by the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA Study). The NOAA Draft Report states that “the common message is clear…salmon recovery depends on large-scale actions, including breaching the dams…actions must be large-scale, comprehensive and begin immediately.” Unfortunately, the report is only a draft and is subject to pressures from pro-dam lobbyists. Please help flood decision makers with comments this week to insure that the recommendations remain robust before the final report is issued August 10. Details for doing so can be found here and here.
