Dear Members and Friends of OSTPDX, Congratulations! We along with Indivisible groups and concerned citizens throughout the country made Donald Trump a one-term president! And we made history by electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the first woman and the first woman of color, to serve as our national leaders. None of this could have happened without your tireless efforts, good cheer, and commitment to defending democracy. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you! As the leadership team of OST, we have been constantly amazed by your engagement and passion for the political process. Unfortunately, the battle isn’t entirely over. True to his relentless narcissism, Trump has refused to concede the election and is threatening all kinds of challenges to the results, including his much-loved attack-by-lawsuit, inciting his base, holding more rallies, and in general doing what he can to obstruct the orderly, time-honored transition of power. And there is the upcoming run-off vote in Georgia for two Senate seats, the results of which will have a huge impact on the balance of power in Washington. More on how you can help there later. We are appreciative readers of Heather Cox Richardson’s daily email commentaries and highly recommend her informed insights on what we’re going through, which you will find here. The leadership team will be meeting later this week to take a broad look at what we’ve accomplished and what our direction should be going forward. If you have any thoughts, comments, or ideas that you’d like to share with us, please feel to reach out to any one of us or send an email to onesmallthingpdx@gmail.com. We’ll be in touch again soon. Until then, enjoy the satisfaction of a job well-done and the promise of a country we can take pride in again. Warmly, Mary, Jacque, Lynn P.S. For anyone interested in the activist reading group, don’t forget there will be a meeting this Thursday, November 12, from 7:00-8:30pm. Contact Ken Rosenberg, rosenbergkd@yahoo.com for details.
