The vast majority of you responded with a resounding YES to endorse V.P. Kamala Harris for President. Act for Democracy therefore formally endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President. We are so excited about the new energy and purpose that her candidacy brings to the American People.
President Biden has given us the enormous gift of this political moment. Now it’s up to us to elect Vice President Harris - and to present her with a Blue House and a Blue Senate - which asks that each and every one of us show up!
There Are So Many Ways To Show Up
Every time we take a moment to prepare a more skillful response to someone who triggered us, we show up. For ourselves and for each other. When we take a bit of time to learn the skills needed to strengthen democracy, we also build community, and so we show up for our country. Every single time we take that extra step to understand someone else, we show up for the whole world.
Of course, we also show up by putting in the work it takes to keep our communities safe from violence, our government responsive to our needs, and authoritarianism out. Saving our planet will take all of us. These things require skills: tiny simple skills and large complex ones. We acquire them almost by accident as we go along. And somehow, it works! Let’s continue to learn together as we go along, and find each other in this great community of common action!
At the COIN call on Tuesday, an audience member who grew up in Hungary reminded us that, when authoritarians take power, democracy can disappear in a span of twenty-four hours - literally overnight - as happened in Hungary when she was there. Let us choose the BETTER future!

"LOOKING FOR LORI"
RALLY IN OREGON CITY!
On August 10th and 11th, a “Looking for Lori” Caravan will draw attention to the fact that MAGA Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer of CD5, has not held a single in-person and unscripted Town Hall since she took office. The caravan will also educate the public about Lori's extreme positions on many of the major issues of our day. The Caravan will begin in Bend on August 10th, and end in Oregon City the next day.

On August 10th - beginning in Bend - the Looking for Lori Caravan will pass through Redmond, Sisters, Sweet Home, Lebanon, and Albany.
On August 11th - beginning in Albany - the caravan will pass through Salem, Silverton, Molalla, and Canby - ending in Oregon City with a rally. (Links to sign up for rallies in Bend, Sisters, and Albany will follow later).
Taking back the House starts in Oregon’s 5th Congressional District by unseating MAGA Lori and electing Janelle Bunum instead!
